Grand Prize: New York Coffee Festival

2016-0919-nycoffeefestival.png

Hello everyone –

I am thrilled to announce that this past weekend my painting “Morning Sludge” took home the Grand Prize at the New York Coffee Festival.

Huge thanks to The New York Coffee Festival, The Coffee Art Project and Project Waterfall for making it all possible. In addition, I would like to congratulate all the artists who participated. There was some amazing artwork on display!

“Morning Sludge” will now travel to Europe and will be on display at “The Coffee Art Project: London” next spring!

The Coffee Art Project is a high profile art competition linked to the theme of Coffee. Following on from the success of The Coffee Art Project in London, Milan, Amsterdam and Paris, where more than 400 inspirational submissions have been received, the competition is entering it’s second year in NYC.

The Coffee Art Project supports Project Waterfall, which is committed to bringing clean water to communities which grow our coffee through the Allegra Foundation and other registered charities.

So far, Project Waterfall, has raised more than £520,000 and delivered clean water to over 20,000 people in Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Nicaragua in partnership with WaterAid, Charity: Water and Water for People.

The Coffee art Project is a non-profit initiative aimed at encouraging artists by providing them with an open platform to showcase their works.

They are funded by donations, sponsorship and art sales. All works must be for sale in the exhibition(s) and on the Coffee art Project on-line gallery. For each artwork sold, 25% is given to the artist, 25% is used to fund administration costs, 50% will be donated to Project Waterfall.

As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!

One Man Show at the School of Visual Arts

2015-1112-onemanshow.jpg

Hello everyone –

I am pleased to announce I have installed a One Man Show at SVA, The School of Visual Arts, in New York City.

I created the Raw Sienna series of paintings in conjunction with the courses, “Paint Your Own Vision” with Seth Michael Forman and “Portrait Painting” with John Parks. The work is on display in the SVA exhibition space at 209 East 23rd Street until November 30th.

The Raw Sienna series has no determined boundary. The story occurring outside the canvas is equally as important as what is depicted within.

Each viewer will supply their own narrative to the works, their own thoughts on the location and events, whether viewing an individual painting or the interaction that forms between collected works on display.

As each new showcase of work can vary in layout and orientation, every viewing will yield a new and unexpected narrative.

As always, I would be grateful for any feedback you might have. Thank you!

2015-0609-Sunnyside-Artists-00b.jpg

The Sunnyside Post has an article up covering this past weekend’s Sunnyside Annual Art Fair.

The weather was great, there was a large turnout, and I was able to sell quite a few prints and smaller pieces. Thanks again to Sunnyside Artists for organizing such a fun event! We will definitely be back for the next one…
