ARTIST STATEMENT

Matt Cauley's work explores identity, memory, and personal narrative through portraiture, collage, and mixed media. Interested in the ways people construct meaning, belonging, and a sense of self, he creates images that move beyond physical likeness to examine the intersections of personal history, community, and lived experience. His work seeks to capture the layered realities that exist between public and private identities, memory and the present moment.
